Community
Bible Study is an inter-denominational, homework Bible study, which
began in 1975. It is an “every person’s” Bible study because the
leaders and class members come from a wide variety of churches and
backgrounds. People with different viewpoints and Bible knowledge all
learn from each other and care for each other in CBS. As they study the
Bible, they become aware that God cares about the details of their
lives, and that the Bible is relevant to their lives. CBS is also a
shepherding ministry because each person is accepted, affirmed and
cared for in a small group, called a Core Group.
Teen
CBS is a ministry of Community Bible Study for high school students,
grades 9-12. Each class works hard to create a warm and welcoming
environment, which provides the opportunity for teens to become
interested in studying the Bible. Teen CBS is NOT your typical Bible
study, however, because each meeting begins with a hot dinner. After
dinner, the teens move to a time of praise and worship, a short talk
about the lesson, and then Core Group time. Core Groups are small,
adult-led groups that meet each week throughout the year to discuss the
study from the previous week. CBS has created homework lessons
specifically designed for each age group. Teens with little or no Bible
knowledge feel comfortable studying and learning in this environment.
The mission of Community Bible Study is to make disciples of Jesus
Christ in our communities through caring, in-depth Bible study,
available to all.
